As of March 5th, 2024, the administrative procedures for citizens of these countries to work in the other countries have been largely reduced. With the new permit which they should obtain digitally, they can be directly employed.

Citizens who want to get a job in another of the members of the Open Balkans should fill out a form on the national e-platform (registration needed) and attach a valid biometric document and a photo. The authorities generate a unique identification number of the Open Balkans (IDOB).

A person who has an Open Balkan ID can request permit-free access to the labor market in the other countries. After completing the questionnaire, the Ministry of the Interior issues an EMBG for a foreigner. With that, a certificate for free access to the labor market can be generated.
