The 7. edition of the MEF Macedonian Energy Forum was attended by the industry and they were not deceived. The Prime Minister-designate Hristijan Mickoski announced the priorities of the future government in the energy sector:

  • The social issues linked to energy transition needs to be addressed
  • Pollution of Macedonian cities due to the household heating is a serious problem
  • The envisioned gas interconnector to Serbia is of utmost importance
  • He believes that the country can develop from a electricity importer to a net electricity exporter.

He also said that the first large foreign investment will be a 1 Terrawatt Windpark in the east of the country.

In the new government, there will be a new Ministry for Energy, Mining and Mineral Ressources, the necessary law is already voted and signed.

Sanja Božinovska, according to media the future minister of Energy, listed in her key notes:

  • the construction of two new gas power stations in Bitola and Skopje
  • the importance to produce base load electricity
  • the necessity of grid connection to surrounding countries
  • necessary adjustments to the EU, from CBAM to emissions trading.
