Macedonia is indeed a small country but you won’t be disappointed to visit it at all. There are so many things to see and to visit, whether you prefere cultural or outdoor activities !
Firstly, in Skopje you can visit a lot of museums which will tell you the stories of the country. There is for example Museum of Macedonian Struggle for Independence which deals with all the fights Macedonian people had to go through to impose itself since the Ottoman occupation. In the History field you can also visit the Skopje City Museum, the Holocaust Memorial Center. If History is not you cup of tea, the museum of contemporary art is really enjoyable.
After this, you can also enjoy a tour in the Old Bazar, the last remains of the Ottoman Empire. You’ll be able to try the traditional and delicious Turkish coffee and appreciate the mood of the district. The Old Bazar is the main symbole of this era that influenced to much the Balkan region in general. The Bazar is the place to go to understand way better Macedonia, its History and its people.
In Skopje you’ll also be able to go to the forteress. It will give you such a wonderful panorama of all the city. The Mount Vodno is also the perfect place to have a pretty panorama. You can reach the top by hiking (approximatively 3 hours) or the cable car will take you there. In the 2000’s a 66 meters cross has been settled to commemorate the 2000 years of christianity in North Macedonia.





After visiting Skopje, the citybus 60 at the central bus station will bring you to the Matka Canyon, one of the most beautiful place in Macedonia.
So many activities are available for everyone. You may like only chill walks or hard and long hikes, boat tours to navigate between the mountains or kayaking with the strength of you arms, Matka is made for you ! You will enjoy such a wonderful time in a beautiful place. If you want to stop and admire the beauty of the nature, spots are available.

Macedonia has so more to offer than only Skopje ! If you take the bus at the train station, you can go easily to Ohrid to see its marvelous lake. This lake is one of the oldest of the world and the deepest of the Balkans. Like in Matka, boat tours are available. The city is also very enjoyable and attractive, the center is very pretty to visit. Do not miss the forteress that could give you such a breath-taking panorama. Ohrid is also known for being one of the most important place for Orthodoxy in the past but also today. There, are the relics of Saint Clement and Naum, who created the firstfruits of the cyrillic alphabet. Numerous pilgrims are coming to see those relics, those Saints are essential for Macedonian culture so consequently, the people.
