In October 2021, legal amendments were proposed to officially recognize digital nomad status, but they were never adopted. These changes, which were part of amendments to the Foreigners Law, never made it into the Assembly. Other countries like Croatia have successfully introduced legislation and attracted foreign digital nomads.

EU citizens can move freely inside other EU countries. Timisoara, Budapest and Madeira have come up as top destinations according to FreakingNomads.
