59 death and close to 200 injured were the result of the fire in a Kočani club. Four of the burned patients have been transported to Belgium. Two of them have been treated in the Queen Astrid Military Hospital, two in other specialized structures in Antwerp and Charleroi. Two have returned to North Macedonia on March 27th.
Many Macedonian citizens living in Belgium offered free accommodation and transportation for family members of the injured, and the Embassy also provided translators, who assisted the injured and their relatives.

Belgium has six burn treatment centers with 70 beds in total, 6 beds/1 mio inhabitants. They are specifically responsible for the first phase of the treatment, the most critical. The Queen Astrid hospital has 26 beds, of which 8 are for intensive care. The doctors are supported by 108 nurses and 12 physiotherapists. Eight patients can be stabilized in parallel even before they enter the center.

The center is part of a national and international network that manages the cases via a coordination center in close cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, of the Public Health System, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Red Cross. The B-FAST Belgian First Aid and Support Team assists in the international support actions.
