The Belgian food group Puratos has acquired Vör Foods, a specialist in nut butters and nut-based fillings in the United States. The acquisition will enable it to better respond to growing customer demand for products such as Dubai chocolate.
Puratos is a global supplier of products for bakers, pastry chefs and chocolatiers. The Belgian company employs a total of more than 11,000 people, with offices in 87 countries and 76 production units in 52 countries. In 2024, the food company had a turnover of 3.4 billion euros. Puratos provides bakery mixes, dough enhancers, fillings, cake mixes and similar products.
Vör Foods specialises in nut butters and nut-based fillings made from pistachios, hazelnuts, almonds, cashews and nut blends. Vör products are pistachio cream or cashew, macadamia and hazelnut butter.
For the first time, chocolate and cocoa products have overtaken dairy products as Flanders’ most important agricultural export products. In 2024, exports of chocolate and cocoa products peaked at 4.8 billion euros, an increase of 33 per cent from 2023. Imports rose by 79 per cent to 3.7 billion euros. This exceptional growth is a result of the enormous price increases for cocoa and cocoa products. (Source: BelgaNews Agency)
