Vevčani carnival

The Vevčani Carnival is an ancient festival in North Macedonia, celebrated for over 1,400 years, typically on January 13 and 14. It features a mix of pagan traditions and modern elements, with participants wearing masks and costumes while engaging in social and political satire.

Carnival is not not limited to Western Europe. The tradition to end the winter with a loud festival, disguising, laughing and having a good time exists also in North Macedonia.
