Google plans to build a new data centre in the province of Hainaut. The investment is 1 billion euros. The company will also expand an existing data centre in Saint-Ghislain, about 60km away.
Datacenters are an important part of the digital economy. They allow to store data in a secured way for companies and the administration alike. Working on an international level, it is possibility to provide “calculation power” and storage 24/24 h by combining data centers in different parts of the world and offering the services to the continents who have daytime at the moment.
North Macedonia has data center projects and is working on a strategy, but no concrete project has yet been announced. In Albania, there is at least one project in realization.
