eInvoicing in Belgium
In Belgium, once companies have their own VAT number, they have to use structured electronic invoices in their transactions with each other. Sending a pdf invoice by eMail or via a platform will no longer be enough.
The transmission works via the Peppol (Pan-European public procurement online) network. Belgium is the first country where this tool is not only used for public procurement, but for all B2B invoicing. In total, 111 countries are using the standard, including Singapore, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
As from 2030, this obligation will also apply to invoicing between EU Member States.
To facilitate the switch, the expense for invoice programs can be deducted by 120 % for SMEs and self-employed people till 2027, while the investment allowance for digital investments is 20 %.
