How to improve the sales of Macedonian wine in a time when people drink less and less alcohol? This was the challenge given at an innovation competition for students. The result was a cheese with a wine content of 25 % Vranac.

The cheese is made from low fat milk of local cows, sheep or goats.

They key advantage of this product is an excellent fit between the low milk production and the high wine production in the country, reads a statement from an expert panel who advised the government.

The production will become mandatory for all creameries starting April 2026. If unsold quantities will remain, they will be used for school and hospital meals.
