King Philippe led a two-day economic mission within Belgium to strengthen economic cooperation between Flanders and Wallonia at a time of growing global uncertainty.

Organised by the Flemish and Walloon employers’ organisations Voka and AKT, the mission brought together around 40 business leaders from both regions. The King visited companies including Odoo, IBA, DEME, Sonaca, Barco, Renson and VPK, with discussions focused on sectors such as biopharma, defence, innovation and the circular economy.

The same day, the Brussels regional government has decided to shut at least 14 of its 33 international trade and promotion offices as part of a broad effort to restore budgetary balance by 2029. One of the offices concerned is Belgrade. 18 offices in Berlin, Dakar, Kinshasa, London, Madrid, Montreal, Nairobi, New York, Paris, Mumbai, Stockholm, Tel Aviv/Ramallah, Sao Paulo, Tokyo and Warsaw remain, the Singapore office is being relocated to Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul and Rabat may close at a later stage.
