Eurochambres President Vladimír Dlouhý urged ministers to address the damaging impact of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) on Europe’s competitiveness and single market.

He called on member states to press for an immediate “stop-the-clock”, targeted simplification and renewed Council negotiations on suspending the authorised representative requirement as part of the Environmental Omnibus.

Smaller online shops complain that the regulation makes cross border business more difficult and criticize the very bureaucratic approach with the need to register each company in each EU country separately.

Member states have agreed to return to the negotiating table to explore a targeted solution to the Extended Producer Responsibility obligations under the PPWR.
